Deborah Ruddock

Candidate for Half Moon Bay City Council

Occupation: Member, City Council

Education and Qualifications: Voters elected me to be a voice for residents, and I have led the successful fights that resulted in: more than doubling of city-owned park acreage; an agreement to donate land for a Boys and Girls Club; continued operation of the high school pool; and adoption of coastal blufftop protection.

The city has more and better equipped police and a graffiti cleanup program; improved traffic flow; more funding for street repairs and pedestrian improvements; its first affordable housing project in years; and a historic preservation program to assure downtown vitality. Our growth management ordinance has been implemented. Human services funding has been restored.

If reelected, I would focus on acquiring parks, improving major highways, supporting our small businesses and attracting new businesses that conform with our character and expand our economic base.

On a council that strongly supports new residential growth and big developers, I am the only member that has consistently put the needs and interests of residents first. I will continue to do so if reelected.

I am a mother of two children in local public schools.
